Steps for putting one of our paddle cats together
1st step
- Lay your frame upside down on the seat as shown in the picture below
2nd step
- Stick the cam buckles through the slots and wrap the seat around the side bars. Center the seat. You will then find your seat cam straps. For the Fat Cat these are a 48” long cam strap and for the Pac Cat they are a 36” long cam strap. The cam strap goes down through a grommet across and up through the corresponding grommet on the opposite side, back to the cam buckle. It may be easier to start with the 2 inside grommets first. Below you will see a picture of a Pac Cat seat laced on. 1 strap has been left undone.
3rd step
4th step
- The next step is to lay your tubes out and blow your tubes up but do not inflate them to working pressure. Then position your seat in the middle of the tubes, Make sure your tube front ends and back ends align, you do not want 1 tube lined up in front of another tube. At this time you should wrap your frame loop straps under the tube and come up the outside to the cambuckle that is attached to the frame. Do not tighten these straps all the way, you may have to be spinning or moving one or both tubes forward or backward.
5th step
- Next you will place the toe bar onto the tubes, bring your frame loop straps under the boat and up through 1 of the grommets in the anti-rotational 2 hole grommet strip. Which grommet you use is determined by the length of your legs.
6th step
- Use the 15” Pillow straps with slider to attach the Back rest pillow to the seat. You will run the strap down through the grommet, using the slot for the seat frame cambuckle push the end of the strap under the seat frame and backup to the cambuckle. Attach the other side of the pillow and blow the pillow up. Now sit down in the seat and begin to push back into the pillow until it feels comfortable in the small of your back, with pillow lightly inflated. Place your feet on the toe bar and adjust the seat forward or backward as needed and tighten the straps.let air out of the pillow for the most comfortable back support. Remember the tubes are still soft so do not make any folds in the material when you tighten the straps. Now blow the tubes up to working pressure. (at least 3 psi. ) and snap the flintstone straps together.
7th step
- Now lace the Mesh Cargo Sling in. you will be using the 2- 56” long slider straps for this. Align the grommets of the cargo sling and the grommet strip on the boat. Next start at a corner grommet and thread the slider strap down through the grommets, up through the next set of grommets and so on. When you get to the other end bring the strap back and run it through the slider. The cargo loop straps are composed of 2 loop straps 33” long with a Male SR1 attached and 2 loop straps 24” long with a female SR1 attached. If done properly, grommets will line up right on top of each other with the strap tight.
Your Fat / Pac Cat is now ready to use. Enjoy and be safe!
