first descent of the merced in yosemite

At the OR show this year, a Gentleman named Michael Gauthier came up and talked to me about how they opened up the Merced River in Yosemite National park. The first Descent was on a Culebra in January. This is what he told me in the latest email. It is nothing fancy, but now the river is open for us thanks to Moose Mutlow, and Michael Gauthier.

Hi Jack, well, these are the only images I have that show your boat in the Merced. I absolutely welcome you to use them as you want, and I can share some details of the trip if you'd like. The man in the image is Moose Mutlow. He orchestrated the float, which was done in the winter. This trip lead to greater discussions about opening up the river to park visitors... which it now is.
