Flyer Cats

Flyer Cat Product Photograph
This is a product photo of our Flyer Cat. It is 14 ft long and has 19 inch Diameter tubes, with eight 2 1/2 inch stainless steel D ring patches per tube and two chambers per tube.

Flyer cats are used commercially by Flexible Flyers, a river outfitter in Durango Colorado. These maneuverable little catarafts are excellent boats for learning how to navigate white water. The continuous curve on the bow and stern make these a lot of fun. For day tripping and light loads they are a blast. They surf easy and skim across the top of the water. Contact Flexible Flyers in Durango Colorado If you would like to try one of these out. visit their web site and contact them via email. FLEXIBLE FLYERS RAFTING DURNAGO

We Like Them with a Narrow Frame
Errol is surfing the Flyer cat in a small reversal on the lower Animas near Durango. This is our standard production model Flyer Cat 14 ft long. It has Eight 2 1/2 inch stainless steel D ring patches that are welded to the raft, two chambers per tube, and 42oz fabric end caps to protect the ends of the tubes from wear. A narrower frame is easier to surf in smaller holes. with 28 inches between the tubes, and an over all beam of 5 1/2 feet, this system will also fit through the Chute in the Gunnison George at 300 cfs.

Flyer Cat in Quartzite Rapid
Sometimes river trip information can get confused. We asked Alan Cathcart if he would like to come on the Salt River. He had not rowed a lot of rapids so we gave him the boat we thought would be the easiest in the low water conditions we expected. He did wonderfully. Here is a picture of Alan negotiating Quatrzite rapid on the Salt River in Arizona without a problem. The problem we had with Alan started when he found out (100 miles from home) that we were really going to take off the river a day later that we originally told him. Thanks for letting us kidnap you Alan. Sometimes not showing up for work can be worth it. We all had a great time, and Alan even seemed to be happy for a good excuse to be late getting home.

Our Boat Specification Table has pictures and drawings with dimensioned part locations. Cataraft Draft Vs Load will tell you how much weight you can expect to put on a set of tubes and how deep in the water it will sink. Customized tube styles and prices can be seen by following this link. If you do not see what you want or can use in the standard product list, This link will give you a place to find the cost of extra length, extra baffles, double bottoms, and top chafe as well as D rings, and handles.
