Let’s face the fact that fly fishing is mostly about access to the water. With this reality in mind. Please do not forget to think about the cutthroat, and Culebra craft. Sometimes it comes down to the idea that you may be able to go if you can fit it in the float plane, or hike it down the trail. Perhaps you may want a boat for multiple reasons, and one of these boats fit the multiple categories best. At JPW we think it is difficult to make one boat fit all applications. Have a look around at different models and see if these variations may work better for you. More about this first picture: Catarafts are great fly fishing boats because they are great low water boats (often when the fishing is best), and they can be held easily in place in the river by the oarsman (guide). Also RBW has been instrumental in getting us to put upswept drop stitch floors in these boats so fishermen can stand further out toward the end of the raft on the drop stitch floor. Have a look at the cutaway so you can see what we mean. With this system, there is no need for a diamond plate floor to stand on, so the whole thing will weigh less. Also because the floor is raised up inside, the boat tracks well and drafts less, making our rafts the fastest boats on the water.
